Hotel Villa Honegg, which you may recognize from its viral infinity pool, is located about 25 minutes from the city of Lucerne in central Switzerland. Perched on a mountain peak, the boutique hotel has just 23 rooms. I stayed in the Corner Suite which is the only suite with a terrace overlooking the pool, Lake Lucerne, and the small town of Ennetbürgen.

Although it rained my entire visit to Switzerland, it was still unforgettable. Even the snaking train ride from Como, Italy to Lucerne through the Alps was amazing with views of alpine terrain, gushing waterfalls, clear rivers, and snow-capped mountains.

Since it was rainy and the hotel is practically sky-high on a mountaintop, we were completely engulfed in fluffy clouds. Only twice did the sky completely clear and give way to a breathtaking view of the blue lake and mountains in the distance. When this happened, you could expect to find me running outside to finally get the perfect picture.

I spent most of my time at Hotel Villa Honegg in the warm pool staring out at the lake. I found the view especially amazing at night because Ennetbürgen lit up and glowed yellow, giving off a toasty, magical feeling. I could have stayed in that pool forever, mesmerized by Ennetbürgen’s glimmer.

Between the snowcapped mountains, turquoise lakes, and the sound of cowbells in the morning, there is truly nothing like the natural beauty of Switzerland.
